Side return and rear extension in Herne Hill

We designed and built a side return and rear extension for our clients in Herne Hill. Here, our clients wanted lots of light in the rear of the property and direct access to the garden and patio. Our clients also wanted to mix modern conveniences with traditional features which we achieved with a modern layout, large windows and doors and roof lights. The beautifully timeless traditional features of the kitchen really ground this space and also offer modern functionality. This was a lovely property to extend and renovate with a modern extension.

We rendered the outside in white, which contrasted with the traditional brick of the existing Victorian building. The roof on one side was flat whilst the side return was at an angle and consists of three large roof lights flooding the space with light. At the end is a beautiful oriel window with window seat offering a quite space to sit in an otherwise busy workspace. This project took 12 weeks to complete and also involved a full refurbishment of the ground floor.
