Loft Conversions by Types of Property

Semi-detached and end of terrace houses loft conversions

For this style of property, it is generally a hip to gable loft conversion with a rear dormer. By in large this can be carried out under permitted development, once the design meets the space and size regulations. We have designed and converted many semi-detached properties and end of terrace houses maximising space in the roof to created new bedrooms, bathrooms and office space. Click here for more information

Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses loft conversions

Victorian alongside Edwardian houses are probably the most common house types where we carry out loft conversions in London. This house type lends itself well to a loft conversion and generally has a high-pitched roofline allowing to add a significant amount of space to the top of the property. Typically, you can add a modern loft conversion whilst maintaining the character of the property elsewhere. Click here for more information

1920's and 1930's terraced houses loft conversions

We have worked on a lot of 1930's and 1920's style house in London and these house types work well for dormer loft conversions to the rear of the property. Generally, you can obtain a significant amount of space with a loft conversion in a 1930's property, adding one to two bedrooms and a bathroom. This type of conversion also works very well for a 1930's detached house. Click here for more information

Conservation areas loft conversions

We have worked in a number of conservation areas in London. In all conservation areas in London planning permission will be required. It is important to know what each council requirements are as they differ from area to area in London. Planning permission is required as the individual councils in conservation areas to protect it from inappropriate development to the fabric of the building. These stringent consents are also in place to protect neighbouring properties from issues such as privacy invasion or light theft. Permission granted by a council in a conservation area may be subject to specific planning conditions. In conservation areas impact of the roofline is a key issue, and planners will always check to if a proposed loft conversion will put the external view of the roofline out of line or keeping with other properties in the area. This is something we have a wealth of experience undertaking.
