Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses loft conversions
Victorian alongside Edwardian houses are probably the most common house types where we carry out loft conversions in London. This house type lends itself well to a loft conversion and generally has a high-pitched roofline allowing to add a significant amount of space to the top of the property. Typically, you can add a modern loft conversion whilst maintaining the character of the property elsewhere.

The types of loft conversion suitable for this type of property are:
Left-hand dormer loft conversion
A dormer loft conversion is one of the most economical was to add space to your home. It is quite a simple and straightforward and hence one of the most popular types of loft conversions. A dormer conversion usually results in a large master bedroom with ensuite / shower room.
Right-hand dormer loft conversion
A rear dormer loft conversion can be aesthetically pleasing to the front of the property with just some Velux windows in the roof. To the rear the space will be maximised with the ability to add French doors and a Juliette balcony. Generally, the bedroom is to the rear to take advantage of the vertical windows with lots of lights and the bathroom is to the front where the roof slopes and there are Velux windows. This also maximises light into the bathroom whilst maintaining privacy.
L-shaped dormer left-hand loft conversion
A left-hand L-shaped dormer loft conversion means that the stairs up to the loft conversion sits on the left-hand side of the property. This is a very popular type of conversion for a Victorian and Edwardian style property and in particular works well for a mid-terrace house. The additional loft space “L-shape” extends over the rear outcrop of the ground floor. This can make a really nice large space adding up to two bedrooms and a shower room or large bathroom. In some cases even an additional office space given the large landing area created.
L-shaped dormer right-hand loft conversion
An L-shaped dormer conversion can bring acres of light into your home without compromising on privacy. From large French doors to the rear and Velux windows to the front there are also options for roof lights in the hallway or the bathroom. In some cases, we have installed full glass roof lights above showers which floods the bathroom with light. Another option for an L-shaped dormer loft conversion is to create a master suite with a large bathroom incorporating a sauna, which, is a wonderful addition to any space. An L-shaped dormer loft conversion is one of the best ways to add value to your home and increase the number of bedrooms.
Mansard loft conversion
A mansard loft conversion is particularly suited to Edwardian and Victorian terraced houses. The party walls are built up in brick, typically London Stock Brick allowing the conversion to be the full width of the property. Mansard Loft conversions generally need planning permission in some Boroughs but not all. This is an area we can advise and have expertise. A mansard conversion is usually one of the most aesthetically pretty conversions from an external perspective. Looking more integrated and part of the fabric of the building then as an obvious addition. Again with this there are options for French doors and Julliette balcony’s to the rear.
Double Mansard loft conversion
With a double mansard loft conversion, you are essentially adding a whole new level to your home across the whole footprint of the building. You can maximise the space and gain at least two extra bedrooms and a large bathroom. Contact us today and see what we can do for you.
