Kitchen Extension and Ground Floor Refurbishment - Wandsworth
Creative Spaces delivered a beautiful kitchen extension in a Victorian house in Wandsworth where we had previously created an amazing loft conversion and first floor refurbishment. Check out the case study here
For this kitchen extension, the idea was to bring the kitchen out 3 meters into the rear garden and utilise all the space to increase the sitting area to introduce a dining area in kitchen and the more kitchen workspace. Our client simply wanted to open up their otherwise compact kitchen into a more welcoming and relaxing family area.
First phase of this extension plan was to understand the build of the house and our design team went ahead and carried out a measured survey to provide accurate design proposals and to chat through our client’s vision and requirements. Once designs were approved and all the necessary permissions in place our project management team moved the build team forward to execute our client’s vision, our team started to work on the ground floor from the entrance to the rear garden.
The ground floor had one spacious reception area with a large bay window but our clients wanted to draw some of that light into the hallway. This was achieved by adding a single large window panel in the wall between the sitting room and the hallway, transforming the space into a bright and airy space. A WC was installed downstairs alongside a new utility room, matching the aesthetic of the newly refurbished reception area.
Moving towards the other end of the house, we enter the kitchen which is extended to the rear garden that is now transformed into chic outdoor sitting area. The kitchen opens to the new patio with glass French doors that opens the lounge area to the outside sitting area. The kitchen has a contemporary feel with no wall cabinets but instead a long display shelf above the worktop, and large kitchen island giving beautiful new workspace. The new utility room fits perfectly and complements the kitchen and household responsibilities.
With the rear extension, the kitchen is now accommodating new island unit, diner area and spacious sitting area that is close to the glass French door, further extending the kitchen to the outside patio. The kitchen is not only well organised with the new extension layout but is also well illuminated by the huge roof lights that allow maximum natural light to enter the space. These roof lights are the best feature to be added with a kitchen extension that are not just stylish but highly functional.
This entire ground floor refurbishment with kitchen extension cost added up to £140k and was completed in 17weeks.
