Kitchen Extension and Full House Refurbishment- Newham
This is one of our unique projects, where we not only work on the kitchen extension and refurbished the other floors but also redeveloped the basement into a storage unit and a gaming nook.
Creative Spaces team met with the client and understood their vision of transforming their house into a more functional home where seating and storage are priority. We started with our Design team, where they envisioned the new basement turned into storage and a den; Ground floor into an open space with a new study and relaxing, fun space for the extension; and kept the rest of the floors entirely for family bedroom after moving the study to the lower floor.
The Basement was converted into a cozy den with comfortable seating and shelves mounted on the wall for storage. This resulted in a perfect gaming room, secluded from the main house area contributing to the peace and quiet of the home. The basement is divided into two sections, from which one is the mentioned den and other half is the storage. The storage is a capacious unit accessed via Den.
On the Ground floor, there were two receptions; at present, the study room from upstairs was moved downstairs in one of these rooms closer to the kitchen. The space under the stairs is utilised for shoes-coat rack with additional storage using every corner contributing to the functionality of the house. The kitchen which was otherwise cramped and lacking basic storage and seating, is now completely transformed into combination of multiple seating options and maximised storage options for the kitchen essentials. The kitchen now has elongated kitchen worktop and wall mounted kitchen cabinets, a separate pantry entirely solving all food storage problems. A focal point of the kitchen is the large island unit in the middle which acts as a natural draw for both family time and socialising. Along with all these modifications, a dining space was also added to the rear of the kitchen totally transforming the space.
All this was made possible by adding a Rear and Side return Extension to the kitchen where the kitchen was moved to the side passage, completely taking over the passage and a part of rear garden area. The extension is equipped with multiple roof lights that allows natural light to illuminate the entire kitchen. To bridge the gap between indoor-outdoor, the extension has a glazed sliding door that opens the kitchen to the rear garden expanding further.
At last, by moving the study room to the ground floor replacing the extra reception, the first and second floors are modified to increase the space of the bedrooms and shower rooms. This makes the house suitable for modern day living while maintaining its Victorian charm. And the best, it increases the value of the property.
This Full house refurbishment took us 18 weeks to complete with the incurred cost of £240k.
