House refurbishment and Dormer Loft Conversion - Brent
Creative Spaces team delivered a full house refurbishment and a large dormer loft conversion to clients in Brent. This project was near Kensal Rise and required planning permission from Brent Council. We worked alongside client’s to create the right designs for this already large Victorian five-bedroom house in order to convert their loft into a master bedroom and complete refurbishment for the first floor and ground floor. The resulting additional space created by the dormer loft conversion and the new layout of the ground floor has not just added value to this home in Brent but also created some wonderful new space for our clients to enjoy and expand into.
Our client’s vision was to open up the space in their busy house on the ground floor and to add another bedroom and bathroom with the dormer loft conversion. The aim was to create more space for the family, and, meanwhile, allow the house to feel more open and spacious. To achieve this our client did not hesitate to make a significant change of sacrificing the tiny box bedroom on the first floor to make space for a staircase up to the new loft space. To maintain the functionality of the house, we came up with the plan to move the fifth bedroom to a bigger, brighter and spacious loft bedroom. This also resulted in five large and spacious bedrooms rather than four bedrooms and a small box room. This aligned with our client’s vision, and working with our Design team and Project Management team we created a new design fulfilling the need for space, light and functionality in the house.
After the time period necessary for planning, modification and construction, and implementation of the new plan, the house is now a far bigger, brighter and more functional space for the family. Along with a bigger and spacious new bedroom and bathroom in the new loft conversion, the house also has an open plan kitchen and dining space opening to the rear garden with a glass French doors. This new layout allows easy navigation throughout the ground floor.
For the first floor, now, in the place of the removed bedroom is a beautiful area to relax and soak in the natural light. The family bathroom and cloak room are now much more functional for the four bedrooms while the fifth bedroom is now in the loft. A large bathroom accompanies the large bedroom in the loft, that has bathtub and big shower closet with Eaves storage, and a Velux window fulfilling providing an airy and bright haven.
The new loft bedroom is expansive with good headroom, and plenty of space to walk around and have a relaxing time in the naturally well-lit bedroom. The bedroom utilised all the loft space with a dedicated dressing area and Eaves storage. Our client’s vision to have bright rooms is achieved perfectly here as well with massive windows that take up more than half of the wall and Velux windows in the either side of the room.
This beautiful 12-week house transformation cost estimated up to £190k.
